Make Your Own Gel Air Freshener On the Cheap for a Better-Smelling Home [DIY]

Make Your Own Gel Air Freshener On the Cheap for a Better-Smelling Home Gel air fresheners are easily available at any grocery or department store, but they're not exactly cheap, and you're limited to whatever horrid smells the manufacturers give you. Thankfully, with a little gelatin, essential oil, and water, you can make your own suspended air freshener to keep your home smelling great for weeks for much less.

It turns out that making gel-based air fresheners are pretty much the same as making a gelatin dessert: all you need are some small jars or containers that you're comfortable placing around your home where you want the air fresheners to go. Some water, essential oils, gelatin, and food coloring (optional) and you can make your own that smell however you choose.

While essential oils aren't exactly cheap, you use so little in the recipe that you can make much more at home than you would buy at the grocery store for the same price. Plus, you're not stuck with scents like "tropical rain" and "arctic mist," and you can choose a smell you actually like. Head over to Tipnut for the recipe, along with suggestions for a stronger variety.
