Noow Is a Media Player that Downloads and Plays Music and Video for You [Video]

Windows: If you're a fan of jukebox style music and video players, Noow is a new app that plays the music and movies you have, downloads more for you to watch, manages your podcasts, and can play almost any file type you throw at it.

Once installed, Noow will search your system for video and music, add it all to its library (without moving the files) and gives you a single application to watch and manage those files. If you're subscribed to podcasts, the app can handle those as well, and will download them regularly. It supports HD video, supports BitTorrent, will play and download YouTube videos for offline viewing, and comes pre-loaded with web video to watch, including TED Talks and our very own Lifehacker show. If you want to sync media with a phone, tablet, or other portable player, the app can perform file conversions just by right-clicking the file you want to convert. All of these features are wrapped up in a tidy interface that's fast and easy-to-use.

If you decide to try Noow, make sure to choose the custom install: if left alone the installer wants to change your browser home page and search preferences. The app is available now for Windows only. The developers promise that Mac and Linux versions are on the way.
